If superman wants a hopeless world, isn’t he being hypocritical by hoping a hopeless world could be possible? Am I confusing your toothy drugged up stupor?
The key is that you’re assuming he’s hoping. There’s a difference between hoping you can do something and knowing you can. Of course, it could be argued that you can’t truly be certain until after the fact, but taking relativism into account, certainty and hope are two very different things.
No toothy drugged up stupor yet…just fresh off the first episode of Battlestar Galactica.
Well, here’s hoping that either the League shows up and stops Supes, or that Prof Xavier can now do a fast brainwash job. When this wraps up, I’d really like to see Superman in his proper outfit, doing something heroic.
ritaxis: You will, probably, though I can’t guarantee how seriously I’ll treat the character. In fact, one of the reasons I’m working towards this storyline’s end is that it’s just losing its funny. It should be finished in the next week or two–I don’t have the exact number of strips in my head, but it’s very close–I’ve done most of the principal photography.
Not to mention, I really wanna get back to a “normal” JLA anyway…I’m only a couple of figures off a complete 6″ scale core team!
I think that since Superman is all emo and takes it in his hopeless cornhole now, he should die doing something really evil and messed up. Like a Richard Simmons workout video.

But he failed before…wouldn’t that put some doubt in his fractured mind? And don’t doubt and certainty together bring hope?

Ah, but you forgot about certainty fueled by fanaticism. We all know how that holds up even in the face of overwhelming logic…
