#158- Grodd
I will always love DC for their ability to come up with the most ridiculous concepts and then make them work.
Today was a fun day. I locked my keys in my car. You should try it sometime.

locking the keys in my truck is even more fun, when it’s loaded with stuff,, unload to gain entry, or just break a window

As drawn by the wonderful Carmine Infantino, the Flash’s villains were a huge and welcome improvement on the awful stuff then floating around at DC– Titanno and Giant Turtle Olsen were pretty cool, but Rainbow Batman and such ( usually with pretty bad art ) were unbearable.
Then the target audience got older and slightly more sophisticated, and the wonderful absurdity of Gorilla Grodd and The Mirror Master was no longer welcome,,,

Naw, fun is locking your keys in the car in a small town that is shut down because it’s Sunday, out of the jurisdiction of the one police agency that has a jimmy and in the one that doesn’t carry them anymore because “cars are just too advanced these days” (why there are two for such a small place is not relevant). Then, give money to a guy who’s looking for hotel money because he and the wife spent it all on bus fair to get to this little spit of a town. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART, because: He will come back after an hour and out of sympathy will break into your car for you because you’re having a rougher day than he is.
The moral of the story: AAA’s plastic key cards. I’ve used mine more than I’d like to admit.
He looks so serious in the picture, too. He looks smarter than some of the other action figures that have shown up in your strip…that’s kind of sad….

Three out of five Grodd pieces sit mocking me in my desk drawer. And I locked my keys in my car twice in one week, after not doing it for like 15 years…

It’s too bad they couldn’t make the lengths of plastic that are between the headpiece and the bracelets more flexible. Still, you’ve done a good job trying to make Grodd look intelligent, yet imposing. Maybe you should contact the various toy makers and demand better material for your strip.
