There were some bad superhero costumes in the 80’s, sure, but nothing–okay, almost nothing–makes me cringe like the old Nightwing costume. So, naturally, I had to have a figure of it.

Frankly, there’s never been a Nightwing costume that didn’t make me cringe. The new one with the blue fingers is barely an improvement. Even the Eath II adult Robin and the Kingdom Come one had bad costumes.

In all fairness, though, Dick Grayson has NEVER had a “cool” costume. Note that the Robin costume certainly wasn’t cool (despite various attempts to redesign it, including at least one attempt by Neal Adams) until Tim Drake came along.

Actually, I’m a fan of the current suit…I always appreciate minimalism in design, and while his current costume is a little bland, and doesn’t really say anything about him, it does make for some neat silhouettes. Plus, it’s hard to be as overtly thematic as, say, Batman’s costume, when your name is something as generic as ‘Nightwing.’ Seriously, what does that even mean?
