#90- Going Down
THE WORLD IS SO EMO EVEN THE GROUND IS BLACK
Have you noticed how heroes always give the bad guys one last chance, and they never take it? It’s one of the most over-used and yet universally accepted cliches in comics. Of course, that’s because a lack of acceptance creates gun-toting vigilantes in place of superheroes. That “last chance” philosophy, when it comes down to it, is really the dividing line, I think.

More like we can believe a person is a hero only if they are gullible or optimistic. I see folks like Frank Castle as being just as qualified for being a hero as any other crime fighter, since they’re all vigilantes and breaking the law

My stance on that is that Frank Castle is a remorseless killer on a personal mission of vengeance, and thus does not qualify as a hero.

Oh, “last chance” may be a cliche in the comics, but what about movies? Like when the heroine spares the bad guy’s life, then he goes for the gun, then gets killed in the struggle. Oops, just spoiled every Ashley Judd movie ever…

Wait…Ashley Judd didn’t spoil every Ashley Judd movie ever?

My favorite action movie cliche is when someone tells the hero to “Walk away–walk away from this, John.” (Action heroes are usually named John…or Jack…)

Yeah, what is with that? And the funny thing is, because they all have the same freaking name, everyone always calls them by their last names, which sort of defeats the whole purpose anyway.
Then again, I always looked at the whole manly last-name referral thing is a throwback to school locker rooms or something. I dunno, I don’t spend enough time practicing my “macho.”
I mean, uh, beer and tits. Yeah.
