I don’t get the “Goddamn Batman” thing.
Neither do I. See, back in the Eighties, Frank Miller wrote and drew an amazing Batman story called “The Dark Knight Returns.” It featured an aging Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement to fight a corrupt government. If you are at all familiar with comics, you know what I’m talking about. DC Comics, apparently thinking that the combination of Frank Miller writing and Jim Lee drawing would create a new kind of magic, went ahead and gave them a book called ‘All Star Batman and Robin.’ Frank Miller apparently decided to use this book as a vehicle in which almost EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER refers to Mr. Wayne as “The Goddamn Batman.” I mean every character, too. He called HIMSELF “The Goddamn Batman.” Nightwing’s frustration with this moniker is a reflection of my own.
